How do you find quality employees?

Like most businesses in Indiana, we've had trouble attracting and keeping qualified employees.  Is raising the salary for positions all it takes?  Are there better ways to find people than through an ad in the paper?

How do you find quality employees?

It really depends on a number of factors: The position you are looking to fill, the industry, potential need of the job seeker, life cycle of the individual and yes salary does play a role in the decision. There are a number of different tools an employer can use to find the correct candidate but sometimes the employer must be willing to build the candidate who shows potential. More to follow on this topic as YPi begins to grow!

Specifically for Indiana County many of us who left the area after high school are reaching or have reached the age where community environment and people, mutual friends, safe environment for raising a family, working and living conditions become more important than salary itself. The more I talk to friends that have left the area the more I hear "I would love to come back to the Indiana area" As Indiana continues to grow I think part of our mission is to sell Indiana as the whole package. Continue to work on growing business but also sell the quality of life and community that Indiana has to offer. Much of the groundwork for this to happen has already begun. As a potential YPi group member I hope to continue to research this topic and openly discuss things we can do together to help move Indiana forward.

As someone who left the area and returned I look forward to seeing Indiana grow!!
